Topic: Export
Well i was wondering if Sijmen is going to make an export where you can export to .MOV, .AVI, or .MP4 or something like that instead of having Animated .GIFs because Animated .GIFs make the animation have a terrible quality. ![]()

I've got my hands on Dimp Preview 1.2 and I can tell you for one that there is a "Export to Quicktime" feature that exports into a .mp4 format. You'll have the option of various resolutions (?x?) and I think I can tell you there's most definitely going to be a YouTube-native resolution and an HD resolution.
To avoid any confusion, I send out testing versions to Sean once in a while to get some feedback and see how it works on other machines (like speed etc). I'm not delaying releases.
I'm currently wrapping up 1.2 and it's got export plus a little bonus. Here are two screenshots of the export function:

It outputs as MP4. The VGA resolution is 640x360, 480p is 854x480, and 720p is 1280x720.
Also there are some bugfixes etc, but you'll see those in the release notes when it's done.
Thats GREAT!
I Have one more question. Is the ghost feature going to be in 1.2? ![]()
I cannot wait for 1.2!
finnaly, showing you all my uber animations!

Nope, sorry.
when you realize you can scroll through the animation to see what you did when

Another thing is that you can already use guidelines for most things, like remembering where the floor was, or a wall. The ghosts are coming though. (ic dead ppl!
)
For my contribution to the current competition, I don't see any way I could have done it without the custom grids. I believe (I might stand alone here) that the "ghost" feature is not of highest priority as it is of greater importance when dealing with frames (such as Pivot) than keyframes (Dimp).
But for ease-of-use, it's something that is largely likely to feature.
Glad to know I wasn't going to get in trouble for talking of pre-release information. ![]()
I also notice a 4th exporting resolution, looks great. ![]()
Edit:

Oops, forgot to mention in this thread (but I did on the other I mentioned Dimp Preview 1.2) that I in-fact only have the un-finished 1.2 and Sijmen is (as he mentioned) not delaying releases.
So is the full release only going to have multiple stick figures? ![]()

Where do you get that idea from? Dimp is still in great development and far from "full release".
No - Sijmen, you failed to read his post correctly, he said will it have only that feature added.
What i meant was the full release going to have that feature but not in the preview versions
Yes, that is the case. It will be in the full version but not in the preview.
But Dimp 1.0 should contain various other planned features that will not hit Dimp Preview either. ![]()
Is there still demand for GIF? I'm not sure whether it's useful for any but the simplest animations.
