Topic: On Tiger and Snow Leopard (keynote spoilers!)
Hi peoples!
You may or may not have heard already about the public introduction of Snow Leopard. SL will be released in September exclusively for Intel-based Macs.
For most of my projects, my policy is to support the latest major version minus one. I'll be sticking with that for Dimp. Right now, that's Leopard and Tiger. That will change with the release of Snow Leopard in September.
Dimp will be supported on Snow Leopard the first friday after SL's release. That will also be the last version to officially support Tiger.
By then it'll be 4.5 years since the release of Tiger. It was a great operating system and it was on my first Mac, which I'm still using. But two major OS X releases later, its era has ended. Those using somewhat recent PowerPC Macs can upgrade to Leopard, which will be supported by Dimp for a long time to come.
I hope you'll understand
. If not, I'm completely open for suggestions and discussion. See you tomorrow for the next Dimp preview release announcement!
