Topic: July 24, Dimp preview 1.6: ghostly (+ Tiger support)!

Hi guys and gals,

The newest Dimp preview is running a bit late. I'm hoping to release it tomorrow (Saturday). There have been some problems with the updater and the process for pushing out releases which I had to spend some time on fixing. Now it's all really nice and streamlined.

Dimp has a few bugs left to fix, which I'll try to do tomorrow. #1 on the list is proper Tiger support! I've also got some great features coming up but those will have to come in 1.7 in two weeks.

I'm really sorry for the delay.

These two days were intense but it's done!

This release restores Tiger compatibility, fixes several bugs and introduces the 'hover ghost' feature.

The full list of changes:

  • Feature: 'hover ghost'. Mouse over the timeline to see a quick preview on the canvas.

  • Change: cosmetic adjustments to upload screen.

  • Change: a Check for Updates… button is now shown on the newer file version alert.

  • Change: Dimp is now distributed as a zip file as opposed to a Mac disk image.

  • Fix: Dimp would crash on launch in Tiger

  • Fix: timeline would change states incorrectly.

  • Fix: timeline height would increase with every new document.

Here's how the ghost feature works: hover over the timeline and you'll see a ghostly image appear on the canvas. Great for getting some sense of the movement without having to leave the time point in which you're working.
