Topic: On posting your videos

You're free to post any stick figure animation here. No matter which program or how it was edited. So you could post a video made with Pivot, or one made with Dimp and edited with Final Cut Pro. It's fine as long as it's a stick figure animation you made.

YouTube

You can embed YouTube videos using bbcode:

[youtube]<YouTube video id here>[/youtube]

For example, for video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_hR3KlCGfs you'd take the N_hR3KlCGfs part and put it in youtube tags:

[youtube]N_hR3KlCGfs[/youtube]

(new) Dimp files

You can now upload Dimp files right from the Dimp preview:

Enter an animation title, and optionally, your name:

Click Upload and after a few seconds it will be done:

You can copy and paste the BBCode right here into the forum. Here's the syntax:

[dimp]9[/dimp]
[dimp=9]Falling Dimple.dimp[/dimp]

Falling Dimple.dimp

Re: On posting your videos

This is a different method to normal video-embedding and in some sense is easier for the user - being able to simply cut out part of the URL instead of searching for the Embedded code.

Perhaps you could outline wether or not normal embedding works? Or wether this is the only method.
What's more, could you go into detail about images as well?

Thanks.

Re: On posting your videos

This was the easiest method to get working here.

Here's more on BBCode and info about images

Re: On posting your videos

Great Help guide. (Clear, lovely layout, etc.)

I was about to ask if you could create a link for this on the page templates until I noticed the "You may use: BBCode, etc." at the bottom-right of the page.

Clicking on BBCode will take you to the help section. wink

Re: On posting your videos

What do you use? I could add tags for Google Video or other site. And of course you can use a regular link:

Re: On posting your videos

It'd be a good idea Sijmen if tags were created for most of the popular video-websites. Google-video inclusive. wink

Re: On posting your videos

Definitely.

Note to Sijmen: At the bottom-right of each screen, you can chose from BBCode, Images or Smilies to see a nice screen detailing what to do in order to achieve any of them, but you lack a neat little one for Videos. wink

Re: On posting your videos

I see. I should create a page for those.

Re: On posting your videos

Well that way people will easily be able to remind themselves how it's done, just like for, say... the Images?

Re: On posting your videos

It would be good if you could create some kind of pop-up for the 3 pages that stays in the same window. For example, here is a site that uses video pop-ups for its tutorials.

Re: On posting your videos

I see what you mean, do you think it's vital?

Re: On posting your videos

A lightbox isn't that difficult to implement, especially not if I'd do it in one go with the other video tags.

Re: On posting your videos

Alright then, it's a probably a "go"?

~ Sean

Re: On posting your videos

Well I'll try to do it smile no promises though

Re: On posting your videos

Ok, would make things easier for me when I don't forget my coding smile

Thanks,
