Topic: inovation...

I like the idea that comes along with Dimp. But personally as an ex-pivot user, i really enjoyed all the different ways you could manipulate the frames. You had to do all the work..and this does it for you? Maybe I just haven't gotten used to it yet, but IMO, individual frames at the top, was way, way way better. To an extent that this really frusterates me since i've been waiting almost 3 years for a mac version of pivot......

Re: inovation...

I understand what you mean.

Dimp is and will stay quite a bit different from Pivot. But I do think that with new features that are coming up (I know it's quiet, but I'm working on it ;-)) people will again have a lot more creative freedom with Dimp. But not because of individual frames.

I think you'll want to take a look at Stykz, it seems to be just what you're looking for :-)

Re: inovation...

The great thing that I find with Dimp is that the fact that it smoothens out your movements and transitions the frames doesn't mean that you have to necessarily turn a complex arm movement into 3 keyframes, instead you can still use pinpoint accuracy by the use of dozens of keyframes, but no matter what, Dimp will still smooth out the transition between them regardless of how small that will be. So you can keep animating by making a 10-second clip out of 30 different positions of your character, Dimp will only make it smoother.

Well that's my opinion at least, and I believe I'm entitled to it. tongue

Re: inovation...

I've got this list of Dimp features that I'm going to implement and I think some of them will give Dimp considerably more power with the keyframes than what can be achieved with frame-based animation. Just gonna take a few releases to get there wink.
